Where healing, nature, and community meet

The Portland Memory Garden is a therapeutic landscape designed to enhance connection and restoration within the wider community alongside communities of older adults, people living with memory loss, and their loved ones. The garden provides a soothing atmosphere for guests to connect with their surrounding community, access educational activities and resources, and experience the health benefits that nature has to offer.

Friends of Portland Memory Garden

Friends of the Portland Memory Garden (FPMG) was informally founded in 2001 as a small group of volunteers. In 2008, the group was incorporated as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. FPMG is proud to work alongside Portland Parks and Recreation as the steward organization for this unique resource for those living with memory loss, their families and caregivers, and the wider community.

Friends of Portland Memory Garden supports Portland Memory Garden in a number of ways:

  • Maintains the garden through every season
  • Coordinates volunteers and work parties
  • Ensures spaces are safe, inclusive, and accessible to all visitors
  • Organizes activities and events
  • Raises money for operations and improvements
  • Communicates with supporters
  • Advocates for urban greenspace

Ways you can support

Community support keeps the Portland Memory Garden thriving. Thanks to dedicated volunteers and generous donors, the garden continues to flourish as a welcoming, four-season space for all. Year-round care makes this possible—and we invite you to connect, collaborate, and grow with us.
